Inflammation Marker (CRP)

Clinical Significance

The CRP test is used to identify and/or monitor inflammation in patients. It measures CRP levels in the blood and helps screen for an acute infection or inflammation.

C - Reactive Protein (CRP) is a protein produced by the liver. The liver releases CRP into the bloodstream during infections or injuries to help combat bacteria or other antigens that threaten the body. This immune response is commonly referred to as inflammation or an inflammatory response. This test is also often used to determine risk of heart disease.

This test does not require fasting.
